Dr. Sornaraja Thasma is a distinguished leader with over 25 years of experience in the life sciences and clinical research sectors. With advanced postgraduate degrees in Biomedical Sciences and Life Sciences, he has built a career spanning pharmaceutical, biotech, and Contract Research Organization (CRO) domains, holding pivotal roles across operational, scientific, and commercial functions.

As Director of Business & Quality Assurance at ProRelix Research, Dr. Thasma has been instrumental in shaping the organization’s global growth trajectory. Through quality planning, business development, he has strengthened ProRelix’s reputation as a trusted partner delivering world-class clinical development services to pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device companies worldwide.

Prior to joining ProRelix, Dr. Thasma led Business Development and Operations at a UK-based CRO, where he successfully expanded corporate strategy and service offerings in oncology, respiratory, and immunology. His career also includes senior roles in clinical development, project management, and operations with biotech and pharmaceutical organizations across the US, UK and EU, as well as collaborations with NHS hospitals. These experiences contributed to breakthrough research in CNS disorders, auditory impairments, immunomodulatory therapies, and respiratory conditions.

With proven expertise in managing programs from discovery to late-stage development, Dr. Thasma has overseen projects spanning early-phase (Phase I) studies, and large-scale Phase III/IV clinical trials. His leadership in oncology, cognitive impairment, and auditory disorder programs has advanced innovative therapies while ensuring the highest levels of operational and scientific excellence.

Academically, Dr. Thasma holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Research from London City University, an MSc in Information Management from Alagappa University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science from Dr. M.G.R. University. In addition, he has authored numerous academic publications and articles on clinical research, reinforcing his stature as a respected thought leader in the industry.
